How Coner and Grace Found Each Other

Sometimes love stories begin with a grand romantic gesture. Sometimes they begin with a chance encounter at the gym. And sometimes they begin with a girl who has already managed to sprain her back and a guy who is about to discover that her name, Grace, may be just a little bit ironic.

Coner and Grace first met at the gym in August of 2022, shortly after Grace had sprained her back. Grace was also dating someone else at the time—a relationship Coner quickly realized was not exactly worthy of her.

Coner would often tell Grace that she deserved better and that she shouldn’t be treated the way she was being treated. But he never crossed a line. Instead, he became her friend—the person she could talk to, vent to, and complain to about her relationship.

And somewhere along the way, friendship quietly turned into something more.

Eventually, Grace ended that relationship and realized she was falling for Coner. But Coner still didn’t make a move. He had been there for her as a friend, and he wasn’t about to take advantage of the situation. About a month after the breakup, Coner finally admitted that he had liked Grace the entire time.

Grace admitted she liked him too—but she had just gotten out of a relationship and wasn’t ready to date yet.

So Coner waited.

And then, because apparently Grace’s life needed a little more excitement, two weeks later she passed out in her car while talking to Coner on the phone.

All Coner heard was the phone hit the ground.

Knowing Grace was prone to passing out, he immediately went into action. He broke into her car, got her out, picked her up and put her in his car, drove her home, and then went back with Grace’s mom to retrieve her car.

And remember—these two weren’t even dating yet.

Coner had simply heard something was wrong with Grace, and he was there. No hesitation. No questions. Just love in action before either of them had officially admitted that this was where their story was headed.

Once Grace was safely home, Coner was getting back into his car when Grace came outside. She was okay.

And then she kissed him.

That was the beginning.

Not long after, Coner officially asked Grace out on April 1st, 2023.

Unfortunately, there was one small problem.

Grace thought he was pulling an April Fools’ prank.

She got mad.

Then she realized he was serious.

And then she felt really bad.

Clearly God has a sense of humor and thought their love story needed a little comedy.

From that moment on, Coner became much more than Grace’s boyfriend. He became her biggest supporter, her advocate, her safe place, and the person who made her feel truly seen. He has stood beside her, supported her through the good days and the difficult ones, and loved her exactly as she is.

And Grace has loved him right back.

They got engaged in June of 2026—just after Grace had, naturally, sprained her ankle.

At this point, everyone probably stopped asking, “What’s wrong with Grace?” and started asking, “What body part is next?”

But perhaps there is something fitting about it all.

Grace may not always move through life with actual grace. She may trip, fall, faint, sprain things, and occasionally mistake a genuine marriage-worthy date invitation for an April Fools’ joke.

But she found someone who never needed her to be graceful.

She found someone who catches her.

Someone who shows up.

Someone who sees her.

And someone who loves her through every unexpected twist, turn, stumble, and adventure.

Coner and Grace’s story may not have started perfectly—but it started with friendship, grew through patience and trust, and became a love built on showing up for one another.

And after everything they’ve been through, one thing is certain:

Grace finally found the right person to fall for.

And thankfully, Coner was there to catch her.
